Orange Conference – It’s time..
Well here it is – Orange Conference 09. I made it. I’m here. Are you? I am upstairs in we are calling the “bloggers lounge.”
Do I know you? Do you know me? Do you want to be friends? Come visit me (and other neat people) upstairs….and as the saying goes…”I’ll be here all week…”
Here is a little video I shot when I got here. (Due to the schedule being so tight, all the videos will be raw footage – but you can call it “indie” if it sounds cooler! {enjoy}. – {Rick}.
Little Red Riding Hood – Geeked Out
First off – I”m sorry! I know it’s been a while since I’ve posted anything on my blog. These last few weeks have been packed to the brim with being a student, husband, student minister, friend, Christian, geek, etc; and so while I enjoy blogging, twittering, double popping, etc; I need to be wise with my time!
However, I did want to share this geeked out version (since us geeks enjoy “specs”) of little red riding hood with you. Enjoy!

double popped – @ScottHodge
Scott Hodge is honestly one of the “hippest” people I know! Scott is the senior pastor of The Orchard Valley Community Church, a twitter king, and just looks “cool!” Scott will also be leading a break out session at The Orange Conference in April, and he talks about that session in this video! {Speaking of The Orange Conference, I’ll also be there in a very unique way, and would love to see you there!}
{warning : Scott must have been on dial up while we were recording this interview. You will see why on certain parts of the video. I just wanted to say sorry in advance for any issues with the video quality!}
{also if you liked the video, have something to say to Scott, have feedback, or want to be on the next “double popped” – please leave a comment below! – Also I would love to connect with you on twitter!}
Charles Lee – Double Popped
The The Idea Camp, a free christian conference being held this weekend in Irvine, California, is putting a different, and exciting, twist on the traditional conference. I had a chance to spend a few minutes “double popping” the creator of The Idea Camp – Charles Lee, and I’m glad I did….because Charles is awesome..! He has a true heart for the Lord, His people, and the intersection of the two!
Charles, thanks for letting me talk with you for a few minutes, and for all you do for the Kingdom!
Finally, you may also want to check out this double popped with Chris Brogan. And if you would like to be on a “double pop,” have any feedback, or simply want to thank Charles for being so cool, just leave a comment below!
IHOP national pancake day – tweet up
Tomorrow is National Pancake day at IHOP, and knowing how I always enjoy free breakfast food, my good friend Elysa thought that it would be fun to make it into a Dallas area “tweet-up.” I would love to connect with as many of you who can make it. {Quick details |6:30PM – 10:30PM | IHOP | 4040 Abrams Rd Dallas, TX 75214 | swing by after work!}

double popped – @alliswell
I am very excited about the launch of my new ministry website. What started out as just a business relationship has turned into a great friendship. Jared and his wife are really amazing people. {I”m looking forward to hanging out with them in April at The Orange Conference!} Jared did an amazing job making my site reflect who I am – almost as if he read my mind! I highly suggest contacting him for any media work that you need!
{Jared – thanks for all the hard work you did on my site – it really shines with excellence. (like all of the work you do!) I’m thankful God allowed our paths to cross!}
Orange 09 I’m there – are you?
I wanted to fill you in on some breaking news from me to you in regards to Orange 09. Check the video for more info. {also if your going, or thinking about going, please leave a comment below.} Lot’s more to come!
double popped – @JoshMckague
Wow! I had the awesome privilege to “double pop” Josh Mckague. A documentary film maker from Atlanta, with a heart for the Lord, some wicked video skills, and an awesome beard!
The Lord is doing some amazing work through Josh. After this “interview” I told him how his videos were some of the best I have ever seen, his response; “I don’t really like the praise. I really hope people see Him in it.” That’s the kind of guy he is – humble. He is a great guy, and I’m looking forward to getting to know him better.
You can contact Josh on his blog, or via twitter!
{as always – if you would like to be on the next “double popped,” have any feedback, or want to just say “hi” – please leave a comment in the comment section!}
double popped – @human3rror
Hey everyone! This is a new segment on my blog I”m calling “double popped.” At least once a week I will be doing a short interview like this one with fellow bloggers, twitters, etc. that you may {or may not} know, and putting it up here on my blog. My hope in doing this is that we can see that people really are “cooler then their avatars.”
Would you like to be on a “double popped” segment? Simply leave your twitter, or blog info, in the comment section of the site, and you could be contacted for the next “double popped!”
-enjoy.

#TrainFriday part 1 was a success
Words can’t describe how awesome #TrainFriday was. In just over 3 days we had an incredible response, and collected over 100 gift cards for Children s Medical Center! It was awesome to not only see the twitter community come together for the good of someone else, but also to meet so many people whom I have only known by their avatar! I put together a little photo slide show of the event. You can also view all the pictures here. I will be posting a video of the event as soon as I have time to edit, and post it! For now enjoy this sideshow, and HUGE THANKS to everyone who was a part of making #TrainFriday such a huge success! Also on behalf of Children s Medical Center, thank you! {They were extremely happy that we made this happen, and cant’ wait for the next one! We are already planning the next #TrainFriday event, and will keep you posted!
{p.s. – the slide show looks nice if you hit the “full screen” button on the player.}
Logos Bible study software tips, tricks, and two cents
Do you use an electronic Bible study software like Logos? If so, please answer the following questions in the comment section.
1. What electronic bible study software do you use? {why do you use the one you use over others}
2. If you do use Logos Bible study software – what “package” do you own, and resources do you find most helpfull.
3. What add ones would you suggest?
4. Do you have any tips, or suggestions to help people that are new to the software?
Twitter schooled me 7000 edition

1. Twitter moves fast. Very Fast. If you follow a lot of people, and you blink, you WILL miss something. {p.s. – it’s ok to miss something!}
2. A lot of people on twitter have the same job – “internet gurus” or “SEO experts.” {I have no idea what either does by the way.}
3. You can use twitter to do some REALLY cool stuff. {like this}
4. You can almost become obsessed with how many people are “following” you. {You just have to learn to not care about it.}
5. People that you interact with on twitter are REAL people. There is actually a human {and often times a family} behind that avatar.
6. Twitter is really a time machine. {for instance, one day I sat down at 1pm and starting using twitter, one second later it was 5 pm – crazy!}
7. I have no idea how Guy Kawasaki makes his living.{I mean it, I really have no clue – do you?}
8. People who don’t use twitter have no idea why people who do, do!
9. Even though it’s really awesome to build so many new friendships on twitter, I have to be really careful to cultivate the friendships I already have. {this includes friends, wives, dogs, fish, etc.}
10. (TweetDeck) + (Any other thing) = “Any other thing “not getting done very well, or taking much more time then it normally takes.
11. My relationship with God is more important then my relationship with Twitter. {much more important.}
12. My relationship with my wife is more important then my relationship with Twitter. {much more important.}
13. It’s sort of funny {and annoying} when someone sends a message to me and says “hey will you follow me?” {unless of course it’s @human3rror, in that case that you should follow him, because he really likes followers!
14. There’s a guy on twitter who has over 20 Emmy’s! {plus he’s a Christians, my friend, and I’ve hung out with twice now – sweet!}
15. There are some SUPER cool people on twitter. {I’ve gotten to meet MANY of them first hand!}
16. When someone sends you DM they expect you answer it within five minutes. {note – I don’t take my laptop in the bathtub with me!}
17. It hurts the feelings of my friends and family when I use twitter on my iphone while we are out at dinner or just hanging out. {they are super nice, and would never tell me that, but I know it does. I really need to stop doing that.}
18. I do not need to get on twitter during church service, or class lecture. {I need to stop doing this also…..}
19. I sort of like it when I post a picture on twitter, and it gets a lot of views. {any other people out there check their picture views?}
20. Twitter is funnier then a “beachball at a Nickelback concert”! {pop quiz – anyone know where that quote comes from?}
These are just a few things I’ve learned at 7,000 twitter posts. What are some things you’ve learned. {Rather you are at 70 posts, or 70,000.}
