Please pray for God to change our son’s heart (literally) :)

Noahs heart during a recent asd pda check up

(A nice little picture of Noah’s heart that the cardiologist drew for us when he was born.)

It’s been an amazing 9 1/2 weeks getting to know our son Noah. Without a doubt, it’s been the “funniest” weeks of our life! Words can’t describe how fun it is being a husband to Abbie, and a father to Noah. I love it!

If you have been following our story, then you know that one of the “surprises” we learned about Noah upon meeting him for the first time is that he was born with two small “holes” in his heart.

Browers’ to the 2nd power….

Big ups to our friends Johnny, David, Holly, and Lindsey Brower for cooking (and bringing) us an awesome meal (from scratch) – including the most awesome of cupcakes! Johnny and David are brothers (if you couldn’t tell) and there sweet wives are Holly and Lindsey. They just left and I just realized that we had an entire house full of Browers’ in our house tonight. I’m not sure it can get any more awesome then that…!

Big ups to again to all of the Browers’, and to all of our awesome friends who have been bringing our family meals since Noah was born. You all have no idea how much of a help you are being to our family by your incredible generosity.

So to everyone who has brought us meals, sent us gifts/cards, called us, texted us, emailed us, facebooked us, tweeted us, prayed for us, and on, and on, and on….word can’t say thank you enough…! We are blown away by the love so many people have shown to our family, and are honored to call all of you friends.

We love you all. Seriously.

God is…..Triune

A few days ago I asked my friends on twitter and facebook this question;

“If you had to describe God in one word; what would it be.”

(not that any amount of words could ever adequately describe God)

Here are some of the many replies….
—————————————-
Awesome
God
Love
Indescribable
Unconditional
Word
Holy
Good
Father
Daddy
Hope
Faithful
Perfect
Amazing

While most of these are great adjectives for God; I was saddened that no one described Him as the one quality that is His, and His alone – Triune.  It is this quality that sets God apart, that sets Christianity apart from any other religion. If you have the other qualities, but not this, then you don’t have a Biblical picture of God. Why is this not one of the first things that comes to people’s minds when then think about the One, True, God? Why do so many “Bible Teachers” neglect to talk about God in Triune (Biblical) terms? Why do we not teach our students (let alone our adults) about the face that God is Triune? That if God wasn’t Triune, if Jesus wasn’t fully God and fully man, then His death wouldn’t have mattered? Why do so many neglect this?

I’m so thankful that God eternally exists as three persons, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit – and that each is fully God and there there is only one God.

This is so vital because

“What a person thinks about God is the most important thought they will ever have. Because what a person thinks about God will determine what he thinks about everything else.”

Are we “thinking” right about God? Are we teaching Scripture to people in a way that would cause them to think “right” or “Biblically” about God? To think of God as Triune? Every time I open up the Bible to teach Scripture I ask myself “How can I make sure people walk away “thinking” CORRECTLY about the God this Bible describes?”

How about you? How would you answer the same question? When is the last time you have heard a sermon on the doctrine of the Trinity? When’s the last time you taught someone about the TRIUNE God? Do you make it a priority to teach about the Triune God of the Bible? Just some thoughts….

{On a side note – there are two professors at DTS, Dr. Scott Horrell and Dr. Jeffery Bingham, that God has used to really change my life, and my teaching. These men taught me more about the Doctrine of the Trinity and the importance of TEACHING it in my sermons then anyone ever has. I owe these men more then I can ever repay them. Thanks guys, you’ll never know the impact you have had on my life.}

Throwback Sunday – Clarissa Explains It All

I think it’s time I let all the people out there in “internet land” know the real Rick Smith – the one who watched this tv show EVERY SINGLE WEEK – and LOVED IT!
In fact, just finding this intro, and posting it, brought back awesome memories! Anyone else out there with me on this weeks Throwback Sunday?

If you don’t know, now you know – Amena Brown

I was reintroduced to Amena Brown a few weeks ago while searching for a video to supplement a Good Friday message I was giving. {Turns out the first time was at passion event years ago.}

Simply put – she is awesome! Check out the video below, and you’ll see why!
(by the way – you can buy many of her videos for an incredibly cheap price from BlueFish!) – {enjoy}

double popped – @JoshMckague

Wow! I had the awesome privilege to “double pop” Josh Mckague. A documentary film maker from Atlanta, with a heart for the Lord, some wicked video skills, and an awesome beard!

The Lord is doing some amazing work through Josh. After this “interview” I told him how his videos were some of the best I have ever seen, his response; “I don’t really like the praise. I really hope people see Him in it.” That’s the kind of guy he is – humble. He is a great guy, and I’m looking forward to getting to know him better.

You can contact Josh on his blog, or via twitter!

{as always – if you would like to be on the next “double popped,” have any feedback, or want to just say “hi” – please leave a comment in the comment section!}
