Serious Baby Blue Eyes

I think Noah really enjoyed the pool!

How could you not love those eyes?

We took Noah swimming for the first time yesterday, and I think it’s safe to say he really enjoyed it!

It’s so much fun watching this kid grow up.  There are no words to describe how much I love him, and he seriously gets cuter every day, it’s amazing.

There is honestly nothing that compares to how great it is being Noah’s dad!  Seriously, I can’t believe God gave me a kid this incredible.  He has changed my entire life.

I took some pictures, and shot a quick video of Noah swimming that’s worth checking out (if you’re in to super cute babies!)

By the way, when Noah was born I was did a quick google search for “down syndrome videos” and came back with nothing.  So I decided to take matters into my own hands and created a website that has lots of great down syndrome information.  I hope you will take a some time to check it out!

Theology and Down Syndrome: Reimaging Disability In Late Modernity

Down Syndrome and Theology and God BookOn December 15, 2010 our life was forever changed when we learned our son, Noah, was born with Down Syndrome.  As a theologian and youth pastor, my mind was immediately flooded with million theological questions.  I wanted to find as much down syndrome information as I could.

According to Psalm 139, “God knit together” my son.  So did that mean that God knit together my son with “disability?”

Which lead my to my next question – who defines “disability?”  I mean, yes, Noah was born with an extra copy of his 21st chromosome, but who determined how many 21st chromosomes a person is “supposed” to have anyway?

The last time I checked I didn’t see any mention of genetics in The Bible.  Did God knit Noah together to accomplish some sort of special work that He wanted to accomplish through him, and our family?

And of course this list of questions quickly lead to me down a never ending theological rabbit trail; and it didn’t help that I knew of no pastors, or ministry leaders that were in my shoes.

I was trusting God like never before, but I desperately wanted some theological answers…!

I don’t know what all God put in that extra 21st chromosome that Noah was born with, but I’m certain crazy amounts of cuteness is part of it….!

wonder and curiosity

I become more amazed with God’s unique ability to create each day I spend with our son.

I can spend hours just watching him. He has an incredible sense of wonder, and a curiosity that only someone 16 weeks old could have. Everything is so new. So fresh. So exciting. He is in awe of everything he sees.

Thankful beyond belief.

To much cuteness for one Saturday

My cute son Noah

Just another Saturday at the Smith house. Gosh we love this guy…..

huggable

I mean seriously. Have you ever seen a baby this huggable…?

Life is way, way, way to much fun right now! :)

my favorite soundtrack

Noah is laughing more and more every day, and we are loving every single second of it.

Today we caught him doing a new laugh, and luckily had an i device near by to record it!

There is no doubt that my favorite soundtrack is one the one that accompanies our life.

Thank you Lord for giving us such great joy through our son.

Ahhh…life is so, so fun.

-Rick

(By the way – if you are a record label looking to sign me due to my awesome singing ability, please don’t bother…I already have a career that I throughly enjoy!)

This is why I have a hard time getting anything done

Without a doubt the last three months have been the best months of my life.

I could never stop writing about all of the ways God has shown amazing grace toward me.

The last few years I have been overwhelmed with that reality.

A ‘beary’ good day

It was an awesome day in Dallas today so our family decided to hang out at Lakeside Park (aka – ‘Beary Park.’)

If you live around Dallas you should defiantly check it out. The park has these really cool bears all around.

Not to mention the park is surrounded by the craziest houses you’ve ever seen. (We saw a house today that had huge statues in their back yard of what looked very much like The Beatles…! Really…..)

Life is fun. We are blessed. God is way, way, way to good to a dummy like me!

3 months of awesomeness

It’s hard to believe it’s been three months since God blessed us with this little guy.

Today we celebrate his three month birthday, and without a doubt it’s been the most fun, awesome, and picture taking three weeks of our entire lives!

I’m Begging God for many more days/weeks/months/years of awesomeness! :)
