If you’ve never heard the music of William Branch, aka – The Ambassador – you’re missing out! Him, and his group, The Cross Movement, have ministered to me for almost ten years! (Wow, ten years is a long time!)
William went to the same graduate school that I attend, and is now a pastor in Philly. (Check out this video my school put together.) His music is simply incredible. The lyrics. The content. The “deepness.” The way it honors our Triune God. I can’t tell you how many times I have worshipped (and even been brought to tears) as I have reflected on the content of some of his songs. (here are a few of my favorite song lyrics – When It’s On In The Whirlwind – It Was Love – Oh Wretched Men – The Fall – Off The Hook – What Do You See? – This is only a start – I could list many more!)
Here is a video off one of his newest cd’s. Enjoy.
{p.s. – do yourself a favor and pick up some of their tracks off of itunes today!}
and people still say Christian rap is crap..they obviously don't know about Tripp Lee, Lecrea (new album), and Cross Movement, or 116 Clique. It's all good stuff. So much better than the other people trying too hard to be "christian rappers"
Really? Who says that? I think more, and more people are starting to really like some of the rap music that honors the Triune God.
Real quality stuff out there – and I think people are starting to realize that. Glad to hear you like some of the best! (I like Lecrea's older cd, better then this newer one by the way!)
His older one just seemed like all the other cheesy rap. "I'm a fanatic…gonna rep Christ till I D-I-E." That just doesn't get my head bumpin' as much as his newer stuff. Just my opinion. I can tell that Christian rap in general is getting a lot better than it has been though, something I have noticed over the past 5 years or so.
I do like the quality stuff..Tedeshii is great as well and has a new album out in a few more weeks. Reach Records (most of the artists mentioned label) sure knows what they are doing.
For sure Man…Christian Hip hop is getting bigger and better, as more artists seek to produce music that's more Christ-Centered and rich in Theology.
